Barbara Neswald, OPAA Treasurer (barbaraneswald@gmail.com). Retired from a career in advertising and marketing that concluded with 16 years of directing a $38 million division of a corporation, supervising 50 people in two states. In her long career she was honored with over 36 advertising awards for creativity. Retirement has meant updating and expanding her arts education at the Philadelphia Academy of Fine Arts and the Fleisher Arts Memorial, both in Philadelphia, where she lived for 33 years.
She is past president of the Philadelphia Society of Botanical Illustrators, a 100-member organization she helped bring to non-profit status. Since moving to the Peninsula in June of 2016, she joined OPAA. Volunteering for the Board, she was promptly asked to take over the vacant position of president. Ill health forced her resignation after about a year. She also joined the Northwest Stone Sculptors Association, participating in two of their workshops and exhibiting her stone sculptures for the first time in public, although her work is in private collections across the U.S. One of her sculptures, “Toad” was included in the Rock, Gem and Jewels exhibit at the Sequim Civic Center in the Fall of 2018.
