In the last nine years, Jim has started to focus on watercolor painting. The wonderful art community in Sequim provides both encouragement and stimulus for this effort. He has studied watercolor painting with Pat Gordon, Judy Priest, Carol Janda, George Zein, Kim Johnson, Kay Barnes and Stan Miller. He paints largely from his photographs of birds and of local mountains and waterways.
Jim has exhibited at the Sequim Arts Members Art Show, the Clallam County Fair, Washington Mutual Bank, Sage Financial, Key Bank, Bank of America, the Gallery at the Fifth and the LARC Gallery in Sequim.
For Jim, watercolor painting provides for a relaxing time. He paints with three different groups, two at the Sequim Senior Center and a third with the North Olympic Watercolorist Group. Through this effort he is expanding his skills and has made many new friends.
