Artist Statement
Suzan Noyes, 61 Josephine Pl., Sequim, WA 98382 541 416-0243
Category: painting
Mediums: acrylic is a favored medium as is soft pastel. I’m considering trying gouache. I prefer strong compositions, colors that pop, intense lights and darks.

Background, Work:
I’ve created Fine Art, Commercial Art, Illustrations for most of my adult life.
I’ve worked in a number of different art-related fields such as fabric design, advertising, interior faux finishing (walls), murals, theater set painting …even paint-by-the-yard (assembly line copies of large canvasses for hotels, etc.).

Present Board Member-at-Large in OPAA.

I’ve taught some beginning pastel classes at Northwest Alaska Community College in the ‘90’s. I was a member of Arts Council in Nome and volunteered design/painting on school and community theater sets. Also volunteered graphics for annual Iditarod functions in town.
I’m past president of a not-for-profit art guild in California, one goal was making the arts more accessible to our small locale, while operating a gallery where artists could showcase work.
In Oregon, I spoke at several community outreach sessions with troubled teens about careers in art. I painted sets and props for several community theaters in Bend.
