Artist Bio
I’ve lived in Central Arizona since 1974. My artwork is very much influenced by the desert Southwest. I started living in Sequim, WA seasonally in 2022. I love the variety that this lovely area brings.
My work has grown out of 36 years of professional painting. I have an Art Education Degree from Northern Arizona University. Shorly after I got my degree it was apparent to me that I just really wanted to paint. In the late 80’s I began showing my work professionally in gallery settings in Arizona and New Mexico.
I started my own gallery in the 2000’s where my paintings were featured along with other Arizona artists. While running my gallery I was invited to be in the May 2009 issue of Southwest Art in a cover piece describing contemporary modern artists. Those years really helped me to grow and solidify my painting style.
Most of my contemporary landscape and abstracts are done in oil or acrylic. I have also worked in soft pastel. My latest paintings are all in acrylic or mixed media. I like to keep my pieces relatively simple stressing composition and color. Color is really my favorite element of art and people have grown to know my work due to my color usage.
